this is what 37,000 plastic bottles looks like. all this will be recycled. possibly into teeki hot pants:) teeki girls went to @rainbowenvironmentalservices to check out the sorting process for recyclables and see first hand where our trash really goes when we throw it "away"... @sustainsurf who is making the Vans US Open a sustainable event with Waste Busters, a rad team of trash sorting earth lovers, are even creating COMPOST from the trash at the event! be careful about the compostable plastics you use though, because industrial composts are no longer accepting "greenware" and other "compostable" plastics. It degrades the quality of the soil and they don't qualify as organic. just say no to plastics--compostable or not--because there's already HEAPS of plastic for us to make into your next pair of hot pants #lovetheearth #plasticfreejuly
